So you want to brew your own beer but you don’t know where to start. Well you’ve come to the right place, because I’m going to be posting a blog series to provide you with information on the basic pieces of equipment that you need to brew your first batch of beer!
The following list includes some equipment I’ve identified as essentials that you will need to brew your first batch:
- Mash Tun (all-grain only)
- Hot Liquor Tank (all-grain only)
- Brew Kettle
- Misc. Utensils/Tools
- Fermenter (with airlock)
One thing you might hear about homebrewing is how expensive it is. I’ll agree that there are some pretty cool toys out there that cost a pretty penny, but you don’t need state-of-the-art equipment to brew delicious, consistent beer. I won’t stop you if you want to get the biggest and best stuff! However, I’ve always tried to be pretty thrifty so I’ll try to give you some tips on how to start off with the least damage to your pocketbook.
The list above shows only the basic equipment that you’ll need to brew your beer, but throughout this series I’ll also touch on some other items that will make your life easier. If you don’t want to miss any of the details, feel free to sign up for my email list in the sidebar at the right side of this page! I would also love to hear a little bit about your setup if you’d like! Please use the comments section on each individual blog post or contact me through the “Questions or Comments” tab! Cheers!
